Workshop Dates (December update)

After a successful and enjoyable bookbinding workshop back in June, I’m sure everyone is desperate for the next one. Well, you can breathe a sigh of relief at last: I’m here to tell you about the wonderful workshops that are coming up, as well as other events to write in your diary.

Places are limited for the workshops, so book early by emailing me at and letting me know which workshop you’d like to attend and if you have any dietary requirements or preferences. I ask for £5 deposit on all workshops to cover my expenses if you have to cancel.

First up is the 17th of November 2018: Make a Photo Album
This workshop will show you how to make a personalised album that you can even expand when you need to. It could be an opportunity to get one Christmas present ticked off the list nice and early…
Time: 9:30am to 1:30pm
Place: Venue to be confirmed, but definitely in or near Street, Somerset, UK.
Price: £20
Anything else: All equipment, materials, and lunch will be provided, as will drinks and biscuits throughout. Yummy!

On the 1st of December 2018, for one day only, you’ll be able to see the wonderful work of thirty brilliant local makers all in one place. RENEWED will be selling Colourful Crockery and RE:notebooks (as well as a few other surprises) alongside a host of other fantastic creatives at Etsy Made Local – Wells (the first one of its kind for Wells) from 10am – 4pm at CentreSpace on Market Street.
There’ll even be live music!
You will not want to miss this opportunity to fill the Christmas stockings of your friends and family with lovingly handcrafted gifts.
Forget mass-produced. Think handmade and unique.

[EDIT: The market was fantastic! I think all the sellers agree. We had a total of 1368 visitors through the door, according to the “clicker,” and the atmosphere was especially vibrant thanks to the live bands and their jubilant, foot-tapping music. I don’t think any of us had a chance to notice how tired we were until the rush started dying down around 3pm. Follow @SomersetEtsyTeam on Instagram to find out when the next one is…]

Just in time for Christmas, on the 15th of December 2018: Make a Decorative Coptic-Stitch Book
If you don’t know what Coptic Stitch is, you should come to this workshop and find out! Or you could Google it…and then come to the workshop. This is an opportunity to learn a bookbinding technique that is centuries old, and to create a beautiful gift for a loved one for Christmas (this is not compulsory, of course: you can keep it for yourself if you like).
All equipment, materials, food, and drinks are provided.
Place: Street Baptist Church, Street, Somerset, BA16 0AN
Arrive: 9:30am (hot drinks and biscuits served before we start)
12:00 – let’s eat lunch (and dessert).
13:30 – finish off the bookbinding and leave to show off your work to all your friends, family, and social media followers.
Price: £25

Ah, the new year… On the 2nd of February and 6th of April 2019 there will be more bookbinding workshops, though what we’ll make is yet to be decided…
Place: Street Baptist Church, Street, Somerset, BA16 0AN
Time: 9:30 – 13:30 or 14:00
As always, all equipment, materials, food, and drinks will be provided.
